One of St James in the City's core values is Build.
Our vision is to see God's kingdom built locally, nationally and globally so that people come to know Jesus. We find so much joy in sending and supporting friends across different parts of the world.

The Whites

whites

Chris, Liz, Leo & Samuel live just outside of Valencia, Spain and are involved in planting a local church. Within a network of 4 churches, they lead an outreach project to sex workers in the city. Alongside this, they also run a 9 month mission training school and are involved in overseas mission work in North Africa, India and Romania where they have planted other churches. Their church runs numerous projects including: men’s groups, women’s groups, youth ministry, football, English lessons, marriage courses, food distribution, training courses & job creation. Largely unreached with the Gospel, some research suggests that Spain is less than 1% Christian. With high rates of un-employment and poverty, Chris & Liz are strategically placed to provide hope and support to the Spanish community in which they live and work.

Please pray for: their children and family life, church growth, the local leaders they are training, financial provision, a strong support network and refreshment from the Holy Spirit.

Danny

From Bootle, Danny is quite the active young man. In 2013 he completed a six month gap year programme with Christians in Sport, which saw him go into schools and churches across the UK using sport to tell people about Jesus. In 2013/14 he spent a year working for St Paul's Church in York pioneering a 'Sweaty Church' ministry. Sweaty Church is essentially a more active and less arty version of 'Messy Church' aimed at young boys (but not exclusively). It sees sport and exercise as a means of bringing families together to learn about the Bible, and introduces them to a less traditional form of church. We're excited to announce that this year, Danny embarks on his ordination training at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. He'll be sending regular updates with news and specific prayer points during his time at college.

Please pray for: energy, good time management & discipline as he studies, openness & receptivity to God's voice and great fellowship with the people he meets on his course.

Jarod & Bexi

Jarod and Bexi are church planting in Croatia. They are working with a YWAM team who have a big heart for the people of Croatia. 2014 saw the team grow to 6 in number. Not only do they run a church but also fortnight-long summer camps, English classes, and they have heavy involvement in children & youth work. A Discipleship Training School (DTS) with a sailing focus is now in the process of being established as a fresh way of discipling young people and helping them grow in relationship with God. They're hoping to find a boat that they can use for the 'DTS' as a tool for outreach to the nearby islands; taking out local Croatians and using it for reconciliation between nationalities & churches. Essentially, they have big plans involving boats!

Please pray for: financial provision, church growth, language skills, good friendships, the office/ministry house, the Discipleship Training School - and boats!
