As part of our worship life at St James, we devote regular times to waiting on God in worship and prayer.

Why Encounter?

We call these events 'Encounter' as we know that it is through meeting God, and worshiping Him as the centre of our lives that He is able to work in and through us for His glory.

'Honour and majesty are found in His presence; strength and joy in His sanctuary.'
[1 Chronicles 16:27]

What does it look like?

God's word is alive and active, so in Encounter we position ourselves to hear afresh from Him as and when He speaks. We spend an extended time in sung worship and encourage everyone to pray in the Spirit and share prophetically as God speaks to them. Each event looks and sounds different as we create a safe space for spontaneous worship and the gifts of the Spirit.

'Jesus stood and with a loud voice said, 'Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.' By this he meant the Spirit.'
[John 7:37-38]

Who's it for?

This event is for everyone who wants to journey deeper in prayer & worship.
