The purpose groups are open for anyone to get involved with. We now have the following five groups:

1. Peace and Justice
The focus of this group is on local and national issues of peace and justice. We have decided to focus on one main issue each year: this year we are exploring Fairtrade and ethical clothing. The group holds events to raise awareness and profile of the issues and campaigns to make changes on a local and national level: this year we are planning to hold a Fairtrade Fashion Show on 26 May, and a clothes swapping party (and we’re open to any more ideas!), as well as researching the ethical policies and standards of high street chains.

 2. International Students
Liverpool has around 7,000 foreign students studying in the city, and this purpose group aims to support those students and help them to feel at home in Liverpool. The activities that this group are involved with include city tours, providing a meeting place and friendship, and holding special events such as Christmas meals and out of term activities.

3. Guerrilla Greening
The Guerrilla Greening purpose group wants to transform local community land, through anonymous planting and gardening. We’re planning sustained projects with local communities, improving existing green areas; and higher impact events across the city that will raise awareness of green issues.

4. Film and Arts
This group aim to enjoy events of an artistic nature – film, music, visual arts, theatre – by organising trips to anything of that ilk. There is also opportunity for non-church goers to go and enjoy the (mostly free) events, where there is room for God to steer conversations.

5. Student Group
This purpose group is a regular gathering of students, based in the Anglican Chaplaincy every Wednesday afternoon/evening. This is simply a space to meet people and hang out!
We meet every Wednesday between 3-6pm in the Chaplaincy.
