Welcome to the Student section of our website!

There’s been a recent growth in the student population at St James’s which is really exciting, and we will be planning lots of events in the near future… such as Purpose Groups, Bible studies and lots of social events!!

Real People!
Our student group at church consists of people whose lives have been changed by Jesus, and we want to share Him with other students. We are also real people (!), who know that being a Christian isn’t always easy especially surrounded by other students and a uni lifestyle: therefore we are passionate about building strong friendships within a Christian group to help us through.

We feel it is important to have friends who aren’t Christians, and work alongside them on issues that are important to us. Purpose Groups are the perfect place for this, as we understand that you don’t have to be a Christian to care about issues, and to have a place where non-Christians can come and socialise as well as plan events around the Purpose Group theme.

Events:
We will be holding a bunch of events throughout the student year. These events will include:

• Eating together, mid-week and before church on Sundays
• Social events (this mostly consists of meeting in Oomoo!)
• Bible studies/discussion groups
• Termly meetings for the girls
• Termly meetings for the boys

Basics Course:
We will also be running a Basics Course in the first term (starting 19 October), for people interested in understanding exactly what Jesus did for us and how we can apply that to our lives. One student who recently completed the course said:

” The course answered some questions for me, but mainly it made me understand and see Christianity differently – less like ‘rules’ and more like a way of life. It made everything alot clearer for me ” … Christine
