We are passionate about prayer. It keeps us close to God and in step with His plan and purpose for His church. In every meeting, at every event, in every circumstance: we pray.

Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. [Ephesians 6:18]

There are a number of ways through which we express our love for prayer:

Sunday Services

Each Sunday we gather to pray at 3.15pm for the 4pm service. It’s really important to raise our voices in prayer, surrender to God and ask the Holy Spirit to come and move among us. Sections of our 4pm service are devoted to intercesson & prayer ministry.

Prayer Breakfast

In a home-setting, every Wednesday morning we gather for prayer at 7am to pray into the life and work of St James in the City. Followed by breakfast, this also incorporates bible study, sung worship and a focus on world issues and intercession. All are welcome to join us.

Purpose Groups

The St James purpose groups all commit to modelling prayer throughout their meetings and ministry. Our hope is that individuals are enriched in their prayer lives while serving their unique purpose.

The Prayer Course

Developed by Pete Greig (24/7 Prayer), the Prayer Course is a great resource for equipping & empowering Christians. Using The Lord's Prayer as a model we're encouraged to journey in community, learn from others and grow in confidence. We have benefitted from running the course at St James and hope to run it again in the future.

Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to know Jesus Christ. At St James, we are pledging to pray for five friends to come to know Jesus during the time of 26th May - 4th June 2017.

We've made a booklet detailing with more information on how St James is planning on praying during this period.

There are some really great prayer resources for during this time. Check out the prayer ideas for families and for individuals.
